5 Simple Ways To Practice Selfcare This New Month

myequewebsite

As you might have noticed, we haven't published in a while

Genuinely I have been stressed

That 30 days writing challenge stressed out my life and my brain cells

I've never experienced writer's block before but that challenged really stomped me

I had no idea what to write

Am I a bad writer you guys?

Cos I kind of lost my confidence after fumbling that challenge

Maybe I should share a picture of the 30 days writing challenge so you guys can see how hard it is

It took everything in me not to send out blog posts that had only 5 lines in them

Anyway ...

October is upon us

And before you can catch a breath

The New Year is here

As testing as these times may be, I urge you to take some moments to take care of your body, mind and soul. It is important to be healthy in all these aspects in order to live long healthy lives

Cos no matter how shitty this life is, no one wants to die. Except those that really do, and may they find peace.

There are a few tips and tricks that people live by that they swear makes a difference and turned their life around the minute they started it. These are a few ways i practice self care;

  • Nourish your body: Of course the first way has to be food. Eat balanced meals with plenty of fruits and vegetables. Regardless of whether you're trying to shed some weight or gain a few pounds, the key is always your diet. Putting the right things in your body will definitely make a difference.

Don't forget to drink water and mind your business.
  • Disconnect from screens: The irony of this because you're obviously reading this on a device's screen. But really, there should be times during your day you just put your phone away. Not everytime gistlover and joro's blog. Some of us can't last a complete day without touching a phone or laptop. And it's a different case if you're using it for work. The point is to take breaks from digital devices to reduce screen time and focus on other things around you.

  • Prioritize sleep: Anybody that knows me knows I don't mess with my sleep schedule. Except I have an exam and I have to be up studying, I always sleep at the same time every night. When the body is well rested, it can function better without glitch. Aim for consistent, quality sleep to improve your overall wellbeing.

  • Pamper yourself: Now this one is golden and shouldn't even be reconsidered. You work hard and you must do well to pamper yourself. It mustn't be a full blown trip to Singapore. It can be a day trip to the beach, a night out with your friends, a solo date drinking wine, a nice gift to yourself, a massage, a nice long relaxing bath, a spa day at home. Anything at all that would make you feel happy and completely relaxed just do it.

By the way, my birthday is next month. Notice how I casually mentioned Singapore. *wink wink *

  • Be self compassionate: An important part of self care is learning how to be self-compassionate. Pay attention to yourself and talk to yourself the way you would to someone you love. Saying callous words to yourself is something you should never do. This is basically what words of affirmation is built on. Only say positive uplifting and empowering things to yourself. Encourage yourself. Build yourself up with your words.

I am able to achieve anything I set my mind to. I am smart. I am confident. I am strong. I am victorious. I have won. I am an unshakable force. I accept myself. I love myself and I will keep moving forward. Things can only get better.

I hope you take the remainder of this year to continue to work on yourself. Keep taking time for yourself until you're you again. There is so much happening around us, in the world, in our countries and in our lives that we tend to forget that we must check up on ourselves and make sure we feel alright. Always take time to care for yourself however best you can.

Stay safe.
